That was the XXXIII National Congress

From 3 to 5 July, we gathered in Steyr to network, debate and jointly set the course for the future of JUNOS. Thanks to the lovely summer weather, we were also able to enjoy the town of Steyr to the full.

Not only did we have a great time at the National Congress, but above all we held important discussions that will shape our future work. Whether it’s photos from the weekend or the resolutions passed – everything relating to the XXXIII National Congress can be found via this link.

With new resolutions and ideas, we are starting the summer on a positive note and will continue to contribute our views to the public debate.

An overview of the key resolutions

Rethinking energy policy

We are committed to a technology-neutral, market-based energy policy and advocate that nuclear energy should no longer be ruled out on ideological grounds. All low-carbon technologies should be assessed under fair competitive conditions. At the same time, we call for the expansion of renewable energy and grid infrastructure, less bureaucracy, and a more integrated European energy market.

For an automatic pension adjustment mechanism in the interests of intergenerational fairness

We call for an automatic adjustment mechanism within the pension system, whereby the retirement age and any increases or reductions are adjusted on the basis of objective criteria such as life expectancy and demographic trends. In addition, we advocate measures to limit pension expenditure in a sustainable manner and to create greater transparency regarding the actual costs of the system.

An end to denial of reality: European solidarity instead of false neutrality

We want to realign Austria’s security policy and strengthen European defence cooperation. Austria should play an active role in European defence, drive forward the establishment of a European Defence Union, strengthen the Austrian Armed Forces in a targeted manner, and take decisive action against espionage and hybrid threats.
