Liberal greetings from Fryslân!
From 25 to 27 September, our Secretary-General Julian Fritsch and our International Officer Stephen Slager attended the JOVD congress in the northern Dutch province of Friesland.
The JOVD is one of our closest international partner organisations. With their support, we have, amongst other things, established our in-house trainer training programme and the JUNOS Campus.
On Friday, Julian and Hugo, the JOVD’s International Officer, jointly led a JUNOS Campus training session on EU politics. We then travelled by train to the Frisian capital, Leeuwarden, where we spent two days experiencing how the JOVD organises its congresses.
This is because these events are not just about motions and political debates, but also place a strong emphasis on training and professional development. Stef and Julian took part in the international training programme, where representatives from various liberal youth organisations were able to learn from one another. Topics discussed included sustainable funding, organisational development and how to engage women more effectively.
It is precisely this open exchange that makes international cooperation so valuable to us: other organisations often face similar challenges but find very different solutions. We are therefore taking back to Austria not only many new perspectives from Friesland, but also concrete ideas for our work at JUNOS.
