A visit to Venstres Ungdom in Denmark
From 11 to 13 September, Stef and Kristina from our International Committee were guests in Aars, Jutland, at the congress of Venstres Ungdom, Denmark’s liberal youth organisation.
Much like our upcoming Federal Congress, the focus there was on the election of a new Federal Executive Committee and in-depth debates on motions. There were a number of things that seemed familiar to us, and some that are organised quite differently from JUNOS.
For instance, the entire congress took place in a school; members slept on air mattresses in the classrooms and were nevertheless very productive: more than 200 motions were tabled by members, over 50 of which were put forward for discussion at the congress.
Besides getting fascinating insights into a different kind of congress culture, we were able to take many ideas and experiences back to Austria with us, whilst at the same time further strengthening our ties with our Danish partners.
