50 Years of LYMEC: Anniversary Conference in Vienna
About 200 young liberals from across Europe gathered in Vienna from April 17 to 19 for the LYMEC Spring Congress to debate the future of the continent, elect a new executive board, and celebrate a special occasion.
The congress was entirely dedicated to LYMEC’s 50th anniversary. At a festive reception, attendees looked back on five decades of young liberals, many of whom went on to play a decisive role in shaping Europe.
Ines Holzegger stepped down as LYMEC President after representing JUNOS on the LYMEC Executive Board for six years. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ines for her many years of dedication to liberal politics and her outstanding work at LYMEC!
Under the leadership of outgoing Treasurer Marten Porte of the Jongen Democraten from the Netherlands, a new Executive Board was elected for the next two years. We extend our warmest congratulations on their election!
Several resolutions were also adopted at the congress, including ones on Greenland’s sovereignty and the 28th regime of the European Union. We are particularly proud that our motion to create a European nuclear shield was also approved.
t was a great pleasure for us to welcome so many young liberals to Austria. We are all the more excited for the next congress.
